Strategies and Resources for Supporting English-Language Learners

English-language learners have many obstacles, and educators should be receptive to their native language and work with students to develop their written and verbal skills. There are many mistakes teachers can make that may be well-intentioned, such as keeping classrooms English-only zones or giving students grammar worksheets. Instead, encourage reading books, put grammar in context of thematic units, and highlight key vocabulary in Common Core standards.
